World Bank

The Global Preferential Trade Agreements Database (GPTAD) provides information on preferential trade agreements (PTAs) around the world, including agreements that have not been notified to the World Trade Organization (WTO). It is designed to help trade policy makers, scholars, and business operators better understand and navigate the world of PTAs. The database was developed jointly by the World Bank and the Center for International Business.

The GPTAD contains the original text of PTAs that have been notified to the WTO as well as agreements that have not yet been notified. The database is updated on a regular basis and currently comprises more than 330 PTAs. Agreements in the database have been indexed using a classification consistent with the WTO criteria. The GPTAD is a unique online tool that allows users to search PTAs around the world by provisions or keywords and to compare provisions across multiple agreements.

Preferential Trade Arrangements

This database contains information on the preferential trade arrangements (PTAs) that are being implemented by WTO Members. The database was established as an outcome of the decision establishing the Transparency Mechanism for PTAs. In the context of this decision, PTAs are understood to mean non-reciprocal preferential schemes. They are distinct from regional trade agreements (RTAs), which are covered by the Transparency Mechanism for RTAs.

Regional Trade Agreements

This database contains information on only those agreements that have either been notified, or for which an early announcement has been made, to the WTO. It allows you to retrieve information on RTAs notified to the GATT/WTO: By country/territory, By criteria. You may also consult the list of all RTAs in force and the list of early announcements.

Trade Agreements

The United States has free trade agreements with 20 countries. These include 12 bilateral agreements and 2 multilateral agreements (NAFTA and CAFTA-DR). These agreements create opportunities to increase U.S. agricultural sales internationally, stripping away barriers to trade, eliminating tariffs, opening markets and promoting investment and economic growth.

With the continuous proliferation of free trade agreements (FTAs) in the Asia and Pacific region, the ARIC FTA database tracks and provides a comprehensive listing of bilateral and plurilateral FTAs with at least one of ADB’s 48 regional members as signatory. It covers all agreements at all stages of development, from those under study or consultation to those in force.

World Customs Organization

The WCO has established a global database of preferential trade agreements and related rules of origin in accordance with the Action Plan to improve the understanding and application of preferential rules of origin endorsed by the WCO Council in June 2007...

The database reproduces the core text of rules of origin provisions (general origin provisions) for all agreements contained therein. While the complete legal text of the trade agreements and all annexes/appendices of the rules of origin provisions are not reproduced in the database, the legal texts of agreements and annexed rules of origin provisions (namely the product specific rules of origin) may be consulted via the indicated web address/es under the factual sheet reproduced for each agreement...

Agreements are generally written in English and French and sometimes in other national languages in which they are negotiated. The Database currently contains more than 300 agreements. Access to the informative Database is free for Members of the WCO and, from March 2011 onwards, will be available to the private sector for a small annual fee.
