Veeral was born in Cortlandt Manor, New York and lived there for the first 18 years of his life. His mother and father, Sejal and Sanjay Shah, are both immigrants from India who moved to America in the early 1990's. Veeral grew up learning both English as well as his parents' native language of Gujurati. Veeral participated in several sports as a child, including soccer, basketball, and track and field.

High School

Veeral went to Walter Panas High School. He was a member of the school's cross country and track and field teams for all four years of high school. He was president of the National Honor Society his senior year of high school. Veeral was admitted to the Social Sciences department of Rice University in Houston, Texas in April of 2015.

College

Veeral enrolled at Rice University in August of 2015. He arrived at Rice as a computational and applied math major. He also joined the Rice Track and Field team. During his first semester at Rice, Veeral changed his desired major to Mathematical Economic Analysis.
