Unfortunately this didn't work. After a reboot:
nvidia-settings --query FlatpanelNativeResolution
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused(message was same as before on the box, this was over ssh)
./deviceQuery Starting...
lspci -vk also returned the same as before. This is really frustrating!
Did the following:
apt-get install nvidia-prime
prime-select nvidia
Info: the nvidia profile is already set
update-initramfs -u
