*This page is a part of series in [[Classifying Names by Culture]]

The [http://millenniumindicators.un.org/unsd/methods/m49/m49regin.htm United Nations Statistics Division] provides recognized names and codings for the World's countries, areas and regions that have many research applications. A text version of this classification scheme is provided in [http://www.edegan.com/repository/UN-GeoRegions.txt UN-GeoRegions.txt]. For users' convenience these names and codings have been organised into two text files: [http://www.edegan.com/repository/UN-GeoRegionCodes.txt UN-GeoRegionCodes.txt] and [http://www.edegan.com/repository/UN-GeoMaMiCodes.txt UN-GeoMaMiCodes.txt].
