The Interagency Mentor Protege Program fosters long term relationships between established companies and local agencies with emerging historically underutilized businesses. IMPP provides the knowledge and experience of established firms to improve the business skills and broaden the base of historically underutilized businesses. <br />

The Interagency Mentor Protege Program is an eight week, eight worshop workshop program that improves understanding of business financials and bidding, improves relationships between established and emerging companies, encourages an understanding of how to do business with local government agencies, and provides technical assistance. <br />
'''Criteria''' <br />
In order to qualify for this program, businesses must be currently certified as small Women-owned, Veteran-owned, Minority-owned or Disadvantaged Business Enterprise by The City of Houston, METRO Small Business or hold a current registration from the Port of Houston or the Houston Independent School District. The business must have been in continuous operation for at the last 24 months and have an average revenue between $150,000 and $4.0 million in the past three years. Additionally, the business must have a minimum of four employees. The business is required to commit to eight workshops and be able to identify the type of guidance needed to encourage development. <br />
