==Short Biography==
Edward J. Egan, Ph.D., is a visiting assistant professor at the [https://msb.georgetown.edu/ McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University]. He is an applied micro-economist who conducts corporate finance and strategy based research in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovationreceived his Ph.D. His research is primarily policy-relevant, and has received awards from the [httphttps://wwwhaas.sshrc-crshberkeley.gc.caedu/funding-financement/programs-programmes/fellowships/doctoral-doctorat-eng.aspx Government Haas School of Canada] and Business at the [https://www.kauffman.org/microsites/kdf/kauffman-dissertation-fellows Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation]University of California, including most recently a [https://www.kauffman.org/currents/2018/03/uncommon-methods-and-metrics-portfolio-kicks-off-new-research-focus UMM grantBerkeley]in 2012.
Dr. Egan has previously held positions as a visiting assistant professor at the [https://msb.georgetown.edu/ McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University], the director of the [https://www.bakerinstitute.org/mcnair-center/ McNair Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Rice University’s Baker Institute], an assistant professor of entrepreneurship at [https://www.imperial.ac.uk/business-school/research/innovation-and-entrepreneurship/ Imperial College Business School], and as the innovation policy fellow at the [https://www.nber.org/ National Bureau of Economic Research]. He received his Ph.D. from the [https://haas.berkeley.edu/ Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley].
Much of his academic research is policy-relevant and in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation. He also worked as a venture capitalist in Vancouver, Canada. Throughout his career, Dr. Egan remains has been active as an economic advisor to local, state , and federal governments, as well as an economic consultant to firms ranging from pre-incorporation startups to Fortune 500 companies.
