== Key Question: Austin or Houston? == '''Pros of Austin''' - An entrepreneurship hot spot: Austin ranks higher than Houston in Startup Activity (based on the rate of new entrepreneurs, opportunity share of new entrepreneurs and startup density) from The Kauffman Startup Activity Metro Report (from 2014 to 2017) - A city endorsed with highIncubators that Support High-tech industry: Austin is often selected and ranked highly as a successful highHigh-tech city mainly due to the presence of large technology companies like IBM, 3M, Apple, Hewlett-Packard, Google, Facebook, AMD, Applied Materials, National Instruments and many others. - Comparative study opportunity: Austin, along with Silicon Valley and Route 128 in Boston are the most frequently investigated sites for case studies (Smilor et al. 1998). Moreover, its close bond with Silicon Valley provides opportunities for comparative studies between the two areas. - Available data source; the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foudation is supporting the creation of a unique relational database that will contain longitudinal data on technology-intensive entrepreneurial ventures in Austin.
