Build Up Houston is a comprehensive, seven month program designed to increase the capacity and success of small businesses in the construction service industry with doing business in the City of Houston. Build Up Houston utilizes curriculum provided by Interise, a non-profit organization, focused on helping established small business owners take their companies to the next level for continual growth and success. Interise has an award-winning curriculum that was developed and refined by working hand-in-hand with small business owners and national business experts. ==Services=====In 2014, The University of Houston partnered with the Houston Office of Business Opportunity to launch the first ever Build Up Houston===program. Build Up Houston is a seven-month program designed to combine aid construction companies in working with the best city of classroom learning with real-world case studies, including the one most important to you: your own businessHouston. Construction industry experts, Small business peersowners, and instructors provide insights, strategies, motivationnonprofit organizations, and accountability. It’s an interactive format, where you get other national business experts developed this curriculum to help small businesses in construction develop the tools, know-how, and confidence to take necessary skills for working with the next step. Build Up Houston will run from October 2015 until April 2016. During that timegovernment, you can expect to learn about:*Business Development Strategies <br />*Strategic Planning<br />*Estimating and Bidding<br />*Finance and Financial Management<br />*Bonding prime these businesses for continued growth and Insurancesuccess. Marketing and Sales<br /> *Human Resources<br />*Accessing Capital<br />*Government Contracts<br />==Activities==Criteria====Applicant must be The cost of participating in the owner or co-owner program is $1500. This provides enrollees with a 7 month curriculum, comprised of 42 hours of class time held every other Tuesday, CEO mentoring group time, and other elements of program time. Part of business<br />Business must be certified with the City of Houston (MWSBEcurriculum includes strategic planning, DBEestimating and bidding, PDBEaccess to capital, ACDBE)<br />Business operating and project management.
