Since the three servers were set up right before spring break, I'm moving from testing things on the test webserver to recreating things on the actual webserver. For more detailed notes, see [[Web Server Documentation]].
20160309 20160411 pushing forward with creating templates in SMW: I have templates and forms for startups, VC funds, and accelerators. now working on the events between these types of organizations. 20160408 going back to SMW for another crack at implementing inheritance. successfully got a vehicle-bicycle inheritance pair to work (there are templates for both objects, and a form for Bicycle pages that includes both templates) 20160406 playing around with Julia inheritance (aka foreign keys) in Cargo; it didn't work. Then, trying it out in Semantic Mediawiki. 20160330 came up with a SQL table schema for the organizations and events, but had difficulty translating it into Cargo (because I couldn't figure out how to do foreign keys). One option is to just ask for the information common to all organizations in each organization subtype (e.g. startup, VC fund, accelerator, incubator, etc.). Or I could look into #cargo_attach [https://www.mediawiki CSS. ran org/wiki/Extension:Cargo/Storing_data#Attaching_to_a_table which seems to be helpful in this sort of situation]. 20160328 Installed Google Analytics extensions on the test web server and production web server for the Mediawiki sites. I can't install on the test blog because I need port 21 opened, but I think I could install on production blog if I wanted to (because all of its ports are opened). 20160328 Finished example data structure for Cargo. #cargo_query is basically just SQL, which is nice. but creating the templates isn't as easy (honestly, we will probably have to create templates by hand anyways). also, there's native JSON support in cargo, so let's go with Cargo! 20160328 Finished the example data structure for Semantic Forms with a few difficulties. Scaling SF up may be difficult so I'm going to look into some issues Cargo, which will hopefully be simpler. 20160325 Trying out an example for Semantic Forms. Working out the data structure for the Semantic Forms with using custom typefacesEd. 20160325 Installing Semantic Forms 20160325 Installing Semantic Mediawiki, looking into alternatives (Cargo?), so wasninvestigating bugs in previously installed extensions that may be due to installing from Mediawiki's extension distributor (which isn't able necessarily up to make further progress.date with the repository)
20160311 Setting up 20160323 Turns out Piwik does work (my browser was sending DoNotTrack requests), but Google Analytics is probably more stable in the mediawiki for users and BibTex citations long run anyways. Also, Semantic Mediawiki (especially Semantic Forms)
20160314 Trying out open-source blogging platforms 20160321 End of Day: Piwik looks promising but I can't confirm that it's tracking anything yet... Also, it may have some complications with MobileFrontend. Also, Semantic Mediawiki (Ghost and WordPressparticularly the Halo extension)looks promising but we're not sure if it's well maintained.
20160316 Testing infoboxes (got them to work, but I had to remove the custom CSS from Common20160321 Turns out OWA sucks. Let's try Piwik instead.css)
20160316 Installing WordPress blog on web server20160321 Configuring BibTex extension and Open Web Analytics
20160316 Configuring Google Analytics on mediawiki and on WordPress blog. Maybe we should look into open-source alternatives, e.g. Open Web Analytics and Piwik
